We are a place that specializes in creative space for those wanting to pursue the “Art and Function of Clay.” It is a place for edgy expression, perfecting the use of our creativity with clay, and looking for new ways to improve our technique whether we are working at the wheel, with slab construction, or a combination of both.
Clay Fuction.com is a studio where we create pottery with the correct form and function for life. Here the pottery comes to life by working with glazes to create overlaps of color and layers of depth, with the look of a master planned painting - yet keeping the function of the pot paramount.
In a short time our studio has grown to more than forty students. Our students are continuously learning new techniques, experimenting with new ideas, and learn both the freedom and precision of clay.
Instruction consists of four 8-10 week sessions per year. Many of our students now have their own studios and are members of various guilds and art associations. “It is truly a wonderful experience to teach so many to pursue the art and function of clay.”
Working to create a vessel with both form and function, a vessel that exhibits its beauty, a piece of art, something that makes a statement, is what our studio is all about. Pottery that is easy to use at dinner parties yet, when the vessel is displayed on its own and becomes a work of art, this is where “Art and Function Collide.”
